Zi Wei Dou Shu (紫微斗数) Beginner Workshop

Fundamentals of Zi Wei Dou Shu you need to know before starting to analyze charts

First and foremost, let's all stop calling Zi Wei Dou Shu "Purple Star Astrology".

The star that Zi Wei Dou Shu often refers to is the Polaris star, and there is nothing "purple" about this star. “Zi Wei" (紫微) is the formal name of the Polaris star and it is an alternate word for "Emperor" in ancient China.

If you're wondering why the image used in this course is of the Big Dipper, it's because those are the stars we are using when we perform Zi Wei Dou Shu analysis. These are the stars that surround the Polaris star which represented the emperor because the Polaris star does not move and all the other stars revolve around it.

This course is meant for beginners who want to lay a strong foundation before moving on to learning how to break down a chart, analyzing it, and making 'predictions' for the future. There aren't many books or materials in English on Zi Wei Dou Shu, so this course aims to fill this gap.

The journey in learning Zi Wei Dou Shu is going to be a long and arduous one, so I ask that you be patient and try to enjoy the process. I am a very active practitioner with 3,500 consultations under my belt and growing. I am conducting consultations every single day and giving advice, when necessary, to people seeking answers. Rest assured that whatever I teach is not just rhetoric, because I will be using a lot of real-life examples to guide you in your learning which you will eventually be able to apply for yourself.

If you are choosing between learning BaZi or Zi Wei Dou Shu, both methods are equally interesting and useful. Zi Wei Dou Shu's strengths are in that it can go into a lot more detail which BaZi can't. It can identify the root cause of issues and give more detail of the manifestations. BaZi can only tell you something will happen and to who most of the time, but it cannot tell you what exactly what it is nor why.

Zi Wei Dou Shu is more popular as it is a method that is seemingly easier to pick up, but to master it is perhaps just as, if not, more difficult than BaZi. Personally, I do not have a preference between the two methods and I use both concurrently during my consultations to help with my analysis and it also serves as a good counter-check.

My philosophy and promise course will be similar to that of the BaZi Beginner course. In fact, it will be the same for any course I eventually publish. I will constantly update the content and materials here so that you can get the most out of this platform I am using to host my online classes, and to ensure that you always have something to refer back to.
